In a friendly and cheerful match, full with former football stars, the tenth edition of the Week Against Racism and Violence in Sports, developed by the Portuguese Footballers’ Association, had its ending with a football game between players and members of the media. It is a well-known fact that the important is to participate, but it is also relevant to say that the result, between reds and whites, has been a plentiful 7-6.
With the number 10 on the back, the president of SJPF, Joaquim Evangelista, the white team had its lining completed with José Carlos (vice-president), Alfredo Ranque Franque, João Lucas, José Pedro, Nandinho, Paulo Madeira, João Vieira Pinto, Lemos and Bruno Aguiar. On the other side, the reds were formed by journalists, sided by trumps like Nuno Gomes, Abel Xavier, João Oliveira Pinto, Lim and Bruno Basto, among others.
Emílio Peixe and Joaquim Rebelo were the invited coaches. Rogério Matias and Tozé, SJPF deputy, watched the match from the balcony. The invited refferee was José Gomes, president of the Portuguese Football Refferees Association.
In a well-balanced match, José Pedro scored the first goal, being Lim breaking the match even. João Vieira Pinto raised the marker to 2-1 but a new goal, by Nuno Gomes, drawed the match. Bruno Basto scored the 2-3 and José Pedro aimed at his second goal of the game. Nandinho put the whites again in the lead, but only while Nuno Gomes did not score his second goal of the match. Nuno Rita, journalist, put the reds leading.
As well as the big matches, this had also a difficult judging case inside the penalty area. José Gomes pointed at the penalty spot under big protest from the red team. Joaquim Evangelista scored the penalty, leveling the marker to 5-5. From there, only the reds played on: Abel Xavier did the 6-5 and Nuno Farinha, journalist, scored the 7-5. João Vieira Pinto finished the score line by 7-6. |
