CAMPAIGN WE PLAY THE SAME GAME

It was presented on January 25th, in the National Museum of Sport, the campaign “In field we play the same Game”, promoted by the The Professional Football Players' Union (SJPF), by the Portuguese Association of Football Referees (APAF) and by the Football Coaches National Association (ANTF).

The initiative joins players, referees and coaches bearing in mind the promotion of an atmosphere of respect in football.

“We’re aware that there is a tense atmosphere in portuguese football. There’s a bad atmosphere created, specially by the unspeakable attack to the arbitration sector. We understand that something must be done to create an easing atmosphere. The message we want to pass is a message of understanding between the big players. This atmosphere is undermining the relation between the players within the field”, stated the Union’s president, Joaquim Evangelista, during the opening ceremony.

The campaign “In the field we play the same Game” has two key moments. The first one consists in the display of campaign’s t-shirts and allusive banners in a gameweek of the NOS League and the Second League, by the players and the referees, when the teams enter the field. The second one consists in awareness-raising actions together with the professional competition clubs, that aim to clarify the rules and other arbitration questions.

PROTOCOL

During the campaign presentation a protocol was signed between SJPF, APAF and ANTF, in which the three entities compromised to foster in their associates a spirit of cooperation and mutual trust. Following this action, the three class associations will move forward with a proposition to change regulations that predicts a reinforcement of the sanctioning measures concerning offense to referees, that questions their good name and dignity.
