OPINION GIANNI, FIFPRO AND FPF
Joaquim Evangelista, president of Portuguese Players' Union (SJPF) says Gianni Infantino's election to the presidency of FIFA and the candidacy of Fernando Gomes to lead the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF):

"Gianni Infantino was just elected FIFA’s president. Congratulations to him. It’s not going to be easy, everyone demands a new sportive world order, but FIFA’s president has the historical opportunity to turn the page and make the demanded renovations.

Gianni has the benefit of passion, determination, competency and a unique football vision. This new time demands an ambitious program, but above all, it demands more social dialogue, more solidarity and more equality.

Gianni will now how to unite and will represent all football interests, will be up to the challenges. I hope that there are given conditions for the exercise of his mandate. The Union will not stop supporting him. From him I expect that he respects all the players and FIFPro, his world voice.

The Portuguese Football Federation and its president, Fernando Gomes, have supported from minute one this candidacy. Tiago Craveiro and Onofre Costa have worked closely with FIFA’s president and made the difference. As well as Luís Figo and José Mourinho. All of them raised national football’s name. Congratulations!

Next is the FPF’s elections, on June 4th. Fernando Gomes is, up to date, and probably until the end, the only candidate. The president managed to reorganize FPF administrative and financially, stating its international dimension by being elected to the UEFA’s Executive Committee. He supported and valued the district associations and promoted amateur football, feminine football, futsal and beach football. The permanent social dialogue that maintains with class associations and other sportive agents, his availability, his work capacity and the respect for commitments characterized his mandate.

Fernando Gomes leaves a sportive patrimony, a lasting impression in portuguese football, the City of Football.

In what concerns us the most, I highlight his loyalty, the promotion of national players and the appreciation of his role in sportive organizations by integrating, for example, João Vieira Pinto, Pauleta, Humberto Coelho and Mónica Jorge in his board.

The continuation of a good work represents an opportunity to take on himself as a strong candidate to UEFA’s presidency. You go Fernando!"
