Training camp

The Training Camp is an initiative of the Portuguese Players' Union developed since 2002. It aims to train unemployed players and promote their employability.

In its 14th edition, was held between 27th June and 31th August 2016, the Training Camp integrated also a formative dimension. The training developed aimed to strengthen the players skills in relation to his football activity and simultaneously provide some tools for the transition to a new career.

Four thematic courses (10h) and four workshops (4h), open to the general public and certificated for coaches, were performed. It was also done a training course about CPR training and life aid (4h) in partnership with a specialized company.

The courses offered were: (1) Coaching and personal development, (2) Social networks and player promotion, (3) Sports system and football jobs (4) Business and self-employment.

The workshops were: (1) Integrity in sport - anti match-fixing project, (2) Scouting and talent detection, (3) Contracts and labour relations in football, and (4) Intermediation in football - Intermediate profile.

Coaching and personal development

This course sought to develop players in the process of self-knowledge and recognition of their potential. The stipulation of goals and paths to attain them was one of the main themes addressed.

This course sought to convey the necessary knowledge about basic life support area and tools.

Workshop 1

Integrity in sport - Anti Match-Fixing project
Trainers:

In this workshop was presented the anti match-fixing program developed by FIFPro and Interpol. It was also promoted the discussion about measures to be taken by players for a more ethical football.

This course sought to develop the players knowledge on ways of promoting their own image and get advantage in using social networking.

In this workshop were presented tools and techniques of systematic observation looking the characterization of the player and their match environment.

This course sought to analyze the Portuguese sports system structure and organization, foreseeing the possible professional areas where players can develop their career after the football.

This workshop aimed to provide sports agents the knowledge required about work contracts tools in order to safeguard their legal position.

This course focused on developing the knowledge required for the player to create their professional activity once finished his football career.

Intermediation in football - Intermediate profile

This workshop focused on the definition of the intermediate profile and the observation of their legal possibilities in correspondence with the technical and ethical responsibilities that it requires.

Lunch offered
The trainings took place in the morning and courses were held in the afternoon, thus the Portuguese Players' Union (SJPF) offered everyday lunch to the unemployed players.
