The last years have been prodigal in football changes. The player, being the main protagonist in this reality, suffered effective consequences in his professional activity.
On the other hand, the emergency of new phenomena, like foreign investment, the entitlement of sportive rights, the change of competitive frames and the growing prominence of the club’s presidents, sportive directores, coaches and agents in the sportive context, demand a new adaptation to reality, since labour relations have changed.
The same way players have to deal with this new paradigm, the Union’s delegates must do it too, in order to improve the monitoring and reach of all players. It should be borne in mind that the recipients of our action are, mainly, the players and, consequently, the delegates are the faces more close to them.
In this extent, the Union promoted a training action, taught by Rui Lança, specialist on Leadership and Coaching, in order to identify, understand and expedite the best approach to players during their visits to the clubs.
The session had the following topics as main points:
- the delegate’s role, that as the Union’s face in the field, transmits the Union’s principals and priorities, establishing effective and affective relationships with the players, apart from thoroughly knowing the reality of the clubs and the problems that affect the players daily, allowing a reciprocity in the constant readjustment of the Union’s role;
- the effective and affective functions of the delegate, namely what concerns relation and approach to the player;
- the delegate activity’s constraints and the necessary instruments to overcome them.
At the training action attended the delegates Anselmo Cardoso, João Paulo, Tozé, João Oliveira Pinto, José Carlos, Rebelo and Carla Couto.
