The Professional Football Players' Union (SJPF), together with player Michael Uchebo, promoted a press conference in which they reported the dramatic situation lived by the nigerian player.
Without getting paid since April and pressured to terminate the contract with Boavista, Uchebo counts with the Union’s legal, financial and personal support that, through president Joaquim Evangelista, appealed to the chequered club in the solving of this case:
“The Union has had an huge understanding with Boavista, but in this moment it’s crucial that the club takes a step ahead and honor their commitments. We have a player [Uchebo] going through this drama without need. This doesn’t honor portuguese football and Boavista.”
Michael Uchebo has a contract with Boavista until June 2017 and doesn’t understand the stand taken by the club: “I love Boavista and its supporters. I don’t understand why they’re doing this to me. Not only have they stopped paying me my salary, they don’t pay me my house rent anymore, not even the light. Currently I feel scared and fear for my safety. I’d like to thank all the support that the Player’s Union has provided me in this difficult phase”, claimed.
