The players have re-elected the current president SJPF for the term 2013/2017. "I’m proud to continue ahead of the Portuguese Professional Footballers Association (SJPF) and continuing representing the players which is for me a great honour and a huge responsibility. Taken into account the bad economic situation as well as the structural reforms in Portugal and in the world will be a real challenging mandate" said Joaquim Evangelista after his re-election as president of the SJPF. According to Evangelista, "the SJPF has the confidence of the players. Our work is and always will be in the first moment scrutinized by them. Our list was built on international players and representative of all clubs. The SJPF gained respect and credibility. We are represented in national and international bodies" explained. For the period of 2013/2017, Joaquim Evangelista established the following priorities: Respect for contracts - "We are aware of the difficulties, reducing the wages, but we require that contracts are paid on time and that all other obligations are met"; The training and qualification of players - "This career is short so it is important to prepare the players for the transition, qualifying them for the exercise of new duties. It’s a duty of the SJPF"; Defend the Young National Player - "We will continue to defend the Portuguese young player, including their training and their integration in the clubs, while supporting clubs and national teams"; The rights of the players on the international scene - "Along international bodies will require the proper handling of players from around the world. The player has to stop being the victim to become the protagonist. We want a FIFPro more active and closer to the players. "
