For the third consecutive year, the number of Portuguese players used in the first half of the professional leagues has decreased. This is the main conclusion of the study carried out by the Portuguese Players Union, which analyzes the use of footballers with regard to nationality and the age group.

In the First League, 63% of the players used in the first round are foreigners and only 37% have Portuguese nationality. Compared with last season, there was a 6% increase in the utilization rate of foreign players.
