Players' Financial Literacy

At Financial Training Week, which runs from October 28-31, the Players Union and the National Council of Financial Supervisors (CNSF) presented a unique study about the financial literacy of footballers in Portugal.

424 soccer players were surveyed in Portugal, of which 51.9% of the Second League, 26.9% of the First League, 11.1% of the Women's League and 10.1% of the Third League.

The study reveals that 79% of players manage their income alone and 56.4% of footballers plan their family budget (mostly monthly). It was also concluded that 81.4% of the players surveyed save regularly, and footballers save more often than the general population (59%).

Best Player

Who did not spare themselves on the pitch and gave the maximum in the months of August and September were the players of Famalicão and SC Covilhã. Fábio Martins and Adriano Castanheira saw their work recognized, having been elected by the Union as the Best Players of the First and Second League, respectively.

Also in August and September, Pedro Gonçalves (Famalicão) and Rui Silva (Leixões) were considered the Best Youths of the First and Second League, in a tripartite election: sports newspapers, former players and users of the Union's website.

But it is not only in men's soccer that there are distinctions. In the women's field, three players from SC Braga received the trophies alluding to their appearance in the Best 11 of 2019 of the BPI League.

Rute Costa, Ágata Pimenta and Vanessa Marques saw their work recognized by their colleagues, sharing merit with their teammates and the club they represent, SC Braga.
