Last week is marked by the participation of the president of the Players Union, Joaquim Evangelista, as a speaker at the conference “Migrations, sport and religions”, promoted by the Portuguese Olympic Committee.

The integration of migrants in host countries and societies was the motto for a debate between several Portuguese sport institutions working and supporting migrants and refugees, and their different experiences.

Joaquim Evangelista commented the theme of (i)legal immigration and human trafficking in Portuguese football, noting that every year 15,000 young Africans emigrate illegally to play football.

Also, in the north of the country, Joaquim Evangelista participated in the fifth meeting of the Social Dialogue Commission. This meeting served for the balance of the first year of existence of this working group, constituted by the Players Union, Portuguese League, National Association of Football Coaches and Portuguese Association of Football Referees.

The next meeting of the Social Dialogue Commission will take place in February 2020.
