Recently promoted to the professional competitions, players from Casa Pia and Vilafranquense were warned to the dangers associated with match-fixing, in a joint action promoted by the Players Union, the Portuguese League and the Portuguese Football Association.

João Oliveira (Union), Paulo Mariz Rozeira (League) and Ana Marques (FA), explained to the players howthey must act and protect themselves, and about the legal and regulatory sanctions apllied to the players invovled in this kind of practices.

Players from both clubs learned that they are forbidden to bet on football, which is a crime (if the bet is in the same competition where the player is participating) and disciplinary sanctions.

Best players of the year

In the field, Pathé Ciss was one of the players that stood out, in the first half of this year, representing Famalicão, precisely in the Second League. The Senegalese midfielder, currently in Spain's Fuenlabrada, has received the Union Award for his presence in the best 11 of 2019.

Also part of the best team of the year, but in the female league, is Matilde Fidalgo, portuguese international who represents Manchester City, having been national champion for SC Braga, last season.

Locally trained players

Matilde did her training in Portugal, and there are different regimes for the definition of a locally trained player, according to the competition in which the athlete participates.

For further clarification on this matter, the Union presents to players the different schemes for professional competitions (Liga NOS and LigaPro) and non-professional competitions (Third Division and National Under-23).
