The inclusion of women in sport

In Berlin, the Players Union participated in the second meeting of the SPIN Women project, funded by the European Union's Erasmus + program.

Carla Couto and Anselmo Cardoso, representing the Portuguese Union, participated in a “trainer the trainer” program, sharing experiences and collecting good practices for the implementation of an internal social inclusion project, for women.

Also funded by the Erasmus + program of the European Union, the GOAL project brought together the Portuguese player, Vieirinha and coach Abel Ferreira, in Thessaloniki (Greece), at an event where the Players Union, one of the project's partner organizations, was represented by Bruno Avelar Rosa.

Awards

In the field, after the brilliant start of the season, Famalicão players, Fábio Martins and Pedro Gonçalves, were distinguished by the Union. The first was voted Best Player of the First League in August and September and the second was considered the Best Youth of the competition in the same period.

From the pitch to the sand, Portugal recovered the title of world champion won in 2015 and 2001, defeating Italy by 6-4 in the final of the competition, which took place in Paraguay.

The game that gave the title of beach soccer world champion to Portugal is also marked by the retired of Madjer, Portuguese captain, who decided to finish his career at 42 years.
