Unpaid salaries

Last week Second League (Vilafranquense SAD) and the Third Division (União de Leiria SAD) asked for the intervention of the Portuguese Players Union beacuse of unpaid salaries.

The situation in the Leiria's team led even the players to stop in the first minute of the game with Torreense, as a protest against the mentioned unpaid salaries, hoping to draw public attention for their case and for the problems in the third division, related with non-payment and mismanagement.

The Union was in a meeting with União de Leiria team, helping with the salary guarantee fund, to ensure that no player has difficulties in this christmas time.

Refugees support

Also worthy of support are the refugees, with the Players Union having a new European project for social inclusion approved by the European Commission. The initiative is the result of the SPIN network, of which the Union is part, and the main goal of the new project will be increase the participation of asylum seekers and refugees in sport, at local level.

Adriano Castanheira

Recently hired by Paços de Ferreira, Adriano Castanheira received the Union award for his work representing second league SC Covilhã, during the first two months of the season. At the age of 26, the winger will do his debut at the top level division of portuguese football.

In spotlight will also be the city of Coimbra, in the year 2021. For the first time, Portugal will host the World Conference on Science and Soccer, which will be organized by the School of Sport Sciences and Physical Education of the Coimbra University, with the support of the Portuguese Players Union.

It is the largest scientific event in the world, exclusively for football, bringing together the best professionals and researchers at the international level.
