Keeping its interventional role in the protection of the labor rights of football players, the Union keep providing assistance to players with overdue payables.
After supported the players of three clubs in the transition from 2019 to 2020, namely Vilafranquense, of the Second League, Fátima SAD and União de Leiria SAD, of the third division, the Union helped four colombian players in Marinha Grande, with six months of unpaid salaries and seeking legal assistance to ensure their termination fwith Atlético Clube Marinhense.
The case of Mosquera, David Rojo, Victor Córdoba and Jean Sinisterra already motivated a request for the change od the regulations applied to players registered as amateurs in Portugal. The Union is also monitoring a other cases in which, in addition to the so-called “false amateur” relations, there are strong suspicions of fraud and support to illegal immigration. This process deserved the reaction of the president of the Players Union, Joaquim Evangelista, and had repercussions in the national press.
In meantime, the union is working together with the Portuguese Football Association (FPF) on the implementation of a licensing and finantial control regulations for the third division, searching for solutions to be implemented next season.
