Portuguese league returns on June 4th

Almost three months after being interrupted, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Portuguese 1st League will return on June, 4th.

The Portuguese League announced the date for the restart of the competition, after the FA published the official “return to play” protocol, approved by DGS (national health authority).

To clarify the doubts of the 1st league players, related with the protocol, the Portuguese Union promoted a meeting between all the teams captains and the public health specialist, and former health minister, Dr. Adalberto Campos Fernandes.

The president of the Union, Joaquim Evangelista, left a message of confidence and stability after the meeting: “this is the time to promote a responsible communication and demand equal responsibility from all sports agents, in the certainty that we need the support of the scientific knowledge and clarifications from the health authorities, working side by side, like we have done with this meeting.”

The return of the competition is also being prepared in Greece, and the clubs already returned to the trainings, waiting for a date to restart the championship.

Pedro Martins, head coach of Olympiacos, who leads the competition, spoke to the portuguese press about the new reality of football, after the Covid-19 pandemic.
