The footballers who participate in the SJPF 11th Training Camp (South) have been a part of a workshop called “The importance of social media on football player careers management”.
This initiative, organized by the Portuguese Union (SJPF), was taught by the communication staff and its opening was attended by the president, Joaquim Evangelista, as well as the players coaches José Carlos, Rebelo and Ranque Franque.
Football Jobs – a platform developed by SJPF to help players find a club – and the creation and maintenance of a professional Facebook page were the subjects approached on this workshop.
Speaking to the players, Joaquim Evangelista stated the relevance of communication and of the occurance of this event.
“First of all, I would like to emphasize the educational side of the Training Camp. I remind you that not all of you will be able to continue to play professionally and, therefore, this action qualifies you towards working in other profession. Communication is fundamental in our present and future lives. New media work as a tool that, besides improving your activities as footballers, it allows you to ease your moves in any other career. Football has been continually growing on a social media level. That means that the players who are not known of the public have less job opportunities. So it is very important to have visibility in order to sensitize agents, managers and chairmen”.
Evangelista also reminded players about the signed protocol SJPF has with Cambridge School. “We have gathered all appliances and we are awaiting the beggining of this intensive course which will occurr during a month”, he said, guaranteeing that SJPF will soon be lecturing a new workshop on sporting law.
“Unfortunately, we have daily confrontations with numberless labour issues. Players without contracts, doubts on valid or invalid contract clauses, which are the rights and obligations, among many others. These are practical issues which need to be clarified and players keep on relying on the wrong people”. |
