BAFODÉ INFRINGEMENTS IN CYPRUS

Bafodé signed up for Aris Limassol at the beginning of 2012/13 season. The contract did not state the agreement of adding another optional season to the one-year assignment.

Similarly to other cases occurred with Portuguese players in smaller competitions, Bafodé’s experience was not a bright one. “On a general level, my experience in Cyprus was negative. I got an injury on the second match and I were absent for another ten games. Financially, it was also bad, since the team has not paid my wages for the last five months”, Bafodé told to www.sjogadores.pt.

The 29-year-old midfielder has also played for Portuguese teams such as Louletano, Oliveirense and Estoril.

The non-payment of wages had been common since Bafodé’s arrival to Cyprus. “They never paid my full salary. Everything was paid on small portions at each time. On December, I stopped being payed for my work.

Bafodé confesses he was deluded by Aris Limassol proposal. “I was not aware of the situation I was putting myself into. We heard on the news that he country was about to suffer a big crisis and so I was warned by me team mates. Still, I could not imagine that things would come out this way. I was deluded and I only raised awareness on the issue when the problem hit me. I have only been holding on thanks to my friends, who have supported me dearly. Otherwise, it would have been impossible to get a grip of the situation”, he tells.

Bafodé also warns other colleagues: “Think well before leaving your country. Playing for small teams in Cyprus would not be my first advice to any player. Life is too expensive and football clubs do not usually pay their players”.
